    Suitable for all stages - no experience required.

     

    It's ideal if you have a reasonable amount of space around you to stretch and move, a decent internet connection with a camera / mic / speakers so you can be fully present in this live class

     

    You'll need

    • your favourite hoop (a comfy on-body and a lighter one ideally, but whatever you have to hand is AOK)

    • a yoga mat if you have one (or a comfy spot to sit or lie down in.

    Hoop Aligned - a postural check in for hoop dancers - Wednesday July 22nd - 8.15pm BOOK

    A 45 minute movement class aimed at hoopers. Exploring habits and alignment in the hoop - a toe to top of the head journey to help you tune into your body and find strength and confidence there.

    Class is led by Emilie, a hoop dancer and 200 hour yoga teacher with over 10 years teaching experience. Inclusive class - whether you're a yogi or a newbies, it's for people like you.
    No requirements necessary, just bring your curiosity.

    Let's get moving! This 8 week course will work more than just your abs, hooping is a low-impact aerobic exercises for your legs, heart, brain and soul. Make play and joy a part for your week, meet some lush folk and feel good.
     
    Simple guided exercises and routines that are suitable for all levels. This round will have more of a focus on fitness and flexibility. If you're looking for tricks keep your eyes peeled for tech and flow workshops coming up on 2020..

    No experience necessary, hoops are provided.
     
    Taught by Emilie, a pro hula hoop teacher and performer with over 10 years experience. Emilie's also a fully qualified yoga teacher who'll guide you through the moves at your own pace, incorporating sweaty werkouts, great tunes, moving meditation, strengthening and stretching.

    Some courses require BYO hoop or to pre-book if you need to borrow one.

    WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

    • Bring your hoop!
       
    • Stay hydrated - bring a bottle of water.

    DO I NEED TO BE A DANCER / HAVE COORDINATION?

    Nope. You're all good. All are welcome provided you're fit to exercise. If you have any special requirements let us know.

    WHAT IF I CAN'T DO IT?

    Emilie's a skilled teacher, she'll put you at ease and within a week or 2 most people grasp most things. If not, all you'll need is a little more practice.

    WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

    Wear something comfortable that's not too dangly.

    Natural fibres are good.

    Layers are good.

    Go fitness / full bling / costume. Whatever makes you HAPPY!

    Emilie Joy Rowell

    Professional hoop dancer.

    Emilie has been teaching hoop dance for over 10 years. She first picked it up in 2009 after seeing Grace Jones rock the hoop on stage; she realised life was missing something circular and started learning. Since then she’s been hooked on hoop and has performed in large choreographed acts as well as solo and smaller group shows across the UK, and was in the final 10 of Hooping Idol 2014.

     

    She’s taught over 1,000 people to hoop at classes, festivals and workshops including pensioners, policemen, toddlers and bankers. Interested in hooping as a release and a challenge; a tool for creativity and health.

     

    She's also a fully qualified yoga teacher, so you know you're in safe hands.

Classes and workshops are subject to a cancellation fee if less than a week's notice is given. In the unlikely event of some or all of a course being cancelled by The Joy of Hooping, we'll offer you a replacement or refund.

All our hoops are hand made to order. As a result, they may have character! We aim to produce beautiful bespoke hoops - please chose your colours and design carefully as custom designs are non-refundable.

HOOP CARE

Please treat your hoop with love. 
They like to be played with often and will serve you well.

- Cold conditions can cause cracking
- Heat, humidity and storage conditions can alter hoop shape
- Damp can cause tape to detach
- Shiny tapes may scuff on some surfaces
- Don't feed them after midnight
    
• Be aware of yourself and your surroundings. Don't do things that hurt and mind the chandeliers!
    
• Careful how you coil - if you have a travel hoop follow the instructions and be gentle please.
